World Cup MVP Shares His Fitness Advice
Two days ago, a single event captured the attention of people from every nation on the earth. The World Cup Final between Argentina and France is estimated to have had over 1,150,000,000 people watching it. Is that crazy or what?!
The game was not your average World Cup Final either, it is being called the greatest final in history.
The game was largely a showdown between two absolute superstars of the sport- Lionel Messi of Argentina and Kylien Mbappe of France. In the end, the 35-year-old Lionel Messi pulled it out and gave Argentina the victory they had been waiting for since 1986.
Lionel Messi has had an incredible career in soccer (or as they call it- futbol), and he has been viewed as the greatest player alive for many years. Messi has a pretty inspirational story too, which I think you’ll find interesting.
This was taken from his official bio-
“Messi was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina. As a young boy, Messi tagged along when his two older brothers played soccer with their friends, unintimidated by the bigger boys. At the age of 8, he was recruited to join the youth system of Newell’s Old Boys, a Rosario-based club.
Recognizably smaller than most of the kids in his age group, Messi was eventually diagnosed by doctors as suffering from a hormone deficiency that restricted his growth. Messi’s parents, Jorge and Ceclia, decided on a regimen of medical treatments though it soon proved impossible to pay several hundred dollars per month for the medication.
So, at the age of 13, when Messi was offered the chance to train at soccer powerhouse FC Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia, and have his medical bills covered by the team, Messi’s family picked up and moved across the Atlantic to make a new home in Spain.
Although he was often homesick in his new country, Messi moved quickly through the junior system ranks. By the age of 16, Messi made his first appearance for FC Barcelona, putting himself in the record books on May 1, 2005 as the youngest player to ever score a goal for the franchise.”
And the rest, as they say, is history. Messi has gone on to win pretty much every trophy and award you can get in soccer, and now he finally has a World Cup Trophy to add to his collection.
So, with all this in mind, a question I would definitely want to ask him if he were standing in front of me is- what do you do to maintain your health and fitness??
I mean 1) he is 35 and he is playing at this level, 2) he has battled a MAJOR health problem all his life and still made it this far, and 3) he kept himself in tip top, high performance shape since he was basically 8 years old…with insane success. I would definitely say he must have a pretty good handle on body management.
Sure enough, he does. And someone even wrote about it. Here are the 5 fitness and diet habits that keep him going strong.
