How You’ll Be Remembered
Once I finish writing this article I will be making arrangements to watch the NFL conference championship games which will be played today. I must confess that I rarely watch a full game during the entire regular football season. I find them to be very long and often uninteresting. However, I love watching games during the last few rounds of the playoffs. Why? Because this is where you see people play their hardest and give it their all.
No matter what slip ups have happened early on in the season, teams are remembered by how they finish, not by how they start. It’s the same with us. We can have all kinds of slip ups, setbacks, and roadblocks on the way to getting physically more fit or achieving some other type of desired result, but what really matters when all is said and done is how we finish not how we started.
I know this truth all too well because as you may know, I overcame a pretty rough start early on in my life, having to battle through leukemia and 26 months of chemotherapy beginning at age 15. Thankfully, I didn’t settle for this and by the grace of God I persevered through it and worked extremely hard to become physically fit and in control of my health and now I will always be known for how I finished despite where I started.
I wanted to share this video with you today. I recently had an old VHS tape of a news segment from Sarasota News Network transferred to digital video and put on YouTube. It is a story about a trip that was funded by a local charity to bring kids with cancer from all over the country to Sarasota for a week of fun in the sun. I was one of the kids who participated and they interviewed me in this segment and asked me about what it’s like to have cancer. People who have seen it that know me now say they can really hear the pain in my voice and that I seem like I’m completely different than I am now. Check it out and tell me what you think.

So what about you?
Are you in a difficult place right now with your health?
Do you have some kind of pain or physical restriction?
Do you have limited physical abilities?
Are you struggling to overcome something that looks very bleak?
Do you remember those old movie reels that were just a bunch of still shots stretched across a long roll of film tape? Well our life is kind of like that. What you are experiencing now is simply a still shot in the movie reel of your life. The good news is that with the right choices and the right guidance, you can change how the movie ends and even what the next scene will be. Where you are now does not define you, where you finish will.
Don’t give up. I know you have great things ahead if you continue to persevere!
Your partner in the journey,
Chris
P.S. If you like where you are now, make sure you never quit doing the things that got you there
