Yale Says This Can Make You Happier Than Money
I think it’s safe to say that most people know exercise is good for their physical health. However, the benefits don’t stop there. Studies show that exercise (when done right) also holds the key to better hormone and neurotransmitter balance, which dramatically affects mood and energy.
But how much of a difference does it really make? That’s what teams of researchers at Yale University and Oxford University recently attempted to discover.
In the studies, they collected physical activity and mental mood data from 1.2 million Americans. They found that those that didn’t exercise averaged 50% more “bad days” than those that did. They also found that physically active people feel just as good as sedentary people who earn about $25,000 more per year.
This is pretty encouraging stuff for those who are on the fence about exercising (or about exercising more). If preventing heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and the assisting living facility, doesn’t motivate you, maybe a guaranteed mood boost will.
